An Update from Athens

Thanks to our partnership with Union and Sarang Church, we were able to plant Pnoi Zois (Breath of Life) Church, in the neighborhood of Neos Kosmos.

The funding has allowed me to work full time in leading the church plant, as well as providing funds for the renovations of our Church building.

The plant started two years ago, and during the last six months we have continued to work on our neighbourhood involvement by providing an open place for people to meet, and by trying to meet the felt needs of our community.

The worship services have been become a regular rhythm of our ministry, and we try to get new people exposed to the Gospel, and to help those that have been coming on a more regular basis to grow spiritually but also in other areas which need growth. With these two areas as our main focus in the last months, with God’s Grace and providence the following are some of the ministries that took place:

Serving the families of the neighbourhood through community activities for the kids and seminars for the neighbourhood.

On a weekly basis, we continued the past months to host different activities for the kids of the neighbourhood. (English classes, Tutoring, Music Lessons, Art Classes). These activities for the children have been really valuable for building relationships with the community. We also continued to serve the neighbourhood by providing various seminars - mostly parenting seminars, Bible seminars, and other educational and Healthy living Seminars.

Support to the families of our neighbourhood with great needs

During the COVID-19 crisis many families were unemployed with no social insurance, lacking supplies for their basic needs. In order to respond to this need, we had a collection among the core group of the Church to gather money to help these families. We supplied the families with supermarket coupons for their basic supplies. During that process we discovered families with great needs from our neighbourhood.

Renovations for the building

We completed the first part of the renovations (the more necessary renovations, on the main floor) when we moved into the building, and we are now in the second phase, renovating the basement, turning it into a space that will focus on the activities for the children. We were able to raise most of the funds, and we are hoping and praying to raise the outstanding amount that we need.

Worship Services

We have opened our public services again keeping the requirements, by gathering as a group of up to 30 people at each service. During the week we started two bible studies focused on people from the neighbourhood - one for men and one for women. Each Sunday we continue to invite new people to hear the Gospel and to our community.

Please pray that we will see fruit in people’s lives as we continue to reach out with the good news of the gospel through our various ministries and personal relationships.
