Union is all about mission. We enable healthy church growth - by investing in leaders - so that churches can flourish in the gospel, and press forward in mission.

In this short video, Dane Ortlund introduces Union and its heart for mission:

Our Strategy

Union has four areas of ministry, which work together to serve the church.

Union School of Theology

Growing leaders on campus and in Learning Communities. Our courses, from BA to PhD, equip you to delight in God, grow in Christ, serve the church, and bless the world. We have a campus in Wales where students can undertake full-time and part-time residential study, with excellent facilities and all the advantages of community learning. This is home for Union and serves our growing network of Learning Communities around the world for accessible theological education in context of local church. Visit the Union School of Theology website to find out more.

Union Publishing

Resourcing the church and blessing the world with the knowledge of God. Based at our Oxford Centre, Union Publishing produces quality theological material for our student-leaders and their churches as part of our commitment to grow leaders for sustainable and healthy mission.

Union books are available to buy at 10ofthose.com. We have a massive collection of free articles, videos and podcasts, online at uniontheology.org or via our app (iOS and Android). Take a look here to start exploring.

Union Research

Fuelling the church’s mission through theological excellence. Union Research resources and fuels Union’s mission with the highest quality theology.

John Calvin said, 'a good missionary is a good theologian; a good theologian is a good missionary.' In order to grow good theologians so that the church can be fortified for mission, we have created our Oxford Research Centre. Union Research aims to encourage and nurture theological thinkers in the church and facilitate interaction between pastors, scholars and students in a vibrant and creative community.

Union Mission

Union Mission is the culmination of our whole ministry. As individual Christians and church leaders delight in God and grow in Christ, we will see churches flourish. And flourishing churches plant churches. In our mission we partner with many churches, networks and agencies to recruit, raise, fund and strategically deploy church leaders where they can be most useful. We are working with churches for the growth of the whole church.

Our Doctrinal Beliefs

We accept the Holy Scriptures, as originally given, as the inspired, infallible and inerrant word of God. Recognising them as our sole authority in all matters of faith and practice, we believe the doctrines taught therein. In particular we believe:

  • in the only true and living God, the Holy Trinity of Divine Persons in perfect unity, immutable, co-equal, co-eternal, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, and sovereign in creation, providence and redemption.
  • in the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who is holy, righteous, full of grace and love. In His infinite love He sent forth the Son, that the world through Him might be saved.
  • in the Lord Jesus Christ, the only incarnate Son of God, born of the Virgin Mary, conceived by the Holy Spirit, in consequence of which His manhood was real and sinless, and His teaching free from error; that by His death on the Cross He made substitutionary atonement and a perfect offering for our sins; that He triumphed over death, sin and Satan; that He rose bodily from the grave, ascended into heaven, where He now sits at the right hand of God.
  • in the Holy Spirit, the third Person of the Godhead, and the Agent of regeneration, by whom men are brought to conviction, repentance, and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, and who indwells the believer for sanctification. The Holy Spirit guides the worship and ministry of the Church, and empowers its life and witness.
  • that as a result of the Fall human nature became guilty and depraved, so that all men are subject to the penalty which, in His wrath, God has decreed against sin. Notwithstanding, those who remain impenitent are fully responsible for their wilful continuance in sin and unbelief.
  • that through faith alone in the Lord Jesus Christ, and on the basis of His death, sinners are freely justified by God, who forgives all their sins as they are reckoned to Christ, whose righteousness is reckoned to them. Salvation is therefore by grace, and not by human merit or work.
  • that those who are chosen by God the Father and redeemed by the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ and sanctified by the Holy Spirit are members of the universal Church, the body of which Christ is the head. This Church finds visible expression in local churches, each of whom should manifest union with Christ in preserving purity of life and doctrine, avoiding schism and heresy.
  • that the Lord Jesus Christ will return visibly, and personally in power and glory. That there is to be a resurrection and final judgment of all men, issuing in eternal blessedness for believers and eternal punishment for the wicked.
